A BRIEF HISTORY

Macedonia Baptist Church was first established on November 2, 1890 at the old Florence schoolhouse with about 40 members present.

The community name of Macedonia was apparently derived from its Macedonia Baptist Church, rather than the other way around, according to the Mesquite history, "A Stake in the Prairie."

The church was first located near the Casa View shopping center. The first pastor was Reverend H.Y. Lively.

In 1892 a formal church house was built on Frank Motley’s farm, and was moved to “Quit” Murphee’s  farm in 1907.

The church moved to its present location in 1945.  Our current pastor is John H. Livaudais, son of former pastor F.L. Livaudais, who was pastor at the church from 1950 until his death in 1973.
